Graduate Coursework

Application Information

To take a course for credit on a non-degree basis you need to apply for admission to the Graduate School.  The application consists of the application form, at least one letter of recommendation, and original copy (or copies) of your transcript(s), and the application fee.  Application deadlines are December 1 for admission to Spring Semester, and August 1 for admission to Fall Semester.  (Very, very few graduate courses are offered during the summer; for summer graduate courses, registration is handled through the Office of Summer Session).  Application materials are available by contacting Barbara Thompson at 919/684-2621.  The Office of Graduate Admissions reviews non-degree applications on a “rolling” admissions basis.

(PLEASE NOTE:  Generally, if you are a college graduate and desire to take at least one course numbered 200 or higher in the first term of your enrollment, you should apply as a Continuing Studies graduate level student and your application materials are filed with the Office of Graduate Admissions.)
