Duke Continuing Studies meets the needs of Human Resources professionals at all phases of their careers. Through a partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), we offer three programs designed to meet your professional needs. They are offered in the Fall and the Spring.
For those new to HR, we offer The Essentials of Human Resources, a program designed to provide a true introduction to the various components of HR. The program is created for those professionals who have taken on HR responsibilities or those who are new to the field. This two-day program will allow you to expand your knowledge and enhance your career.
For experienced HR professionals, we offer the Human Resource Management program, which prepares professionals for the national certification exam given twice yearly by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI). Students choose the level of the test, either as a Professional in Human Resource Management (PHR) or a Senior Professional in Human Resource Management (SPHR) based typically on their years of experience. The program uses the Learning System® materials developed by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The program is taught by professionals with SPHR certification and “real world” human resources experience in a convenient evening format and are offered in both Raleigh and Durham.
For experienced PHR/SPHR level professionals with international and/or cross-border responsibilities, we offer the Global Human Resources program which utilizes the Global Learning System® designed by the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and prepares professionals for the Global Professional in Human Resources Management (GPHR) certification exam administered twice yearly by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).
Offered in an intensive 3 day format, this program is convenient for working professionals. The instructor, who is GPHR certified, and a practitioner in the human resources field, contributes "real world" application to the classroom learning experience.
