Certificate in Human Resource Management

Registration

Private loans are an option for students who do not wish to pay in full with registration. See details below.

Have you selected your courses?
If you know the Course ID, title, and enrollment fee for all of the courses you would like to take, please select your preferred registration method below.

Registration Methods
You may include a Mastercard or Visa payment and submit your registration by any of the methods below. Mailed registration forms may include payment by check.
  1. Online with our secure registration process
  2. Mail or Fax
  3. Telephone during normal business hours: 919-684-6259

Advance registration is required.
Since many courses fill early, we recommend registering at least two weeks before the course begins.

Refunds/Cancellations/Change Policies

There are no refunds for online courses. Overnight programs have different cancellation policies. Please see program descriptions for details.

Refund and Change Requests must be in writing.
To receive a refund, minus a processing fee for each course cancelled, or to switch to a different course, we must receive your written cancellation request at least two weeks before the course begins. Processing fees are:
  • $20 for course fees under $500
  • $100 for course fees $500 or more

To submit a cancellation request:
  Email: learnmore@duke.edu
  Fax:    919-681-8235
Mail:   Registration - Duke Continuing Studies
             Box 90700
             Durham, NC 27708-0700
Include your name, address, phone number, and course title to be dropped. Refunds will be made in the manner you paid us.

Missed the refund deadline?
A friend can take the entire course in your place if you call 919-684-6259 prior to the start of the course and let us know the name, address and phone number of the substitute student. Failure to attend a course does not entitle you to a refund or replacement course.

Special Circumstances

Course is Filled / Waiting List
If you pay for a course that is already filled, we will put your name on the waiting list, notify you, and automatically issue you a refund or send back your check. Save the check in case a space opens up. If a space becomes available, we will call you. Acceptance of a space from the waiting list creates the obligation of payment regardless of attendance, unless registration is cancelled according to the cancellation policy above.

If We Cancel a Course
Sometimes we have to cancel a course that does not meet minimum enrollment, or due to unforeseen events. If that happens, you will receive a full refund, unless you prefer to select a different course from the same catalog. Duke Continuing Studies reserves the right to substitute instructors or change the day a course meets.

Bad Checks
If a check is returned for insufficient funds, we will charge a returned check fee of $30. Checks will not be resubmitted. The replacement payment must include the additional $30 and be in the form of cash, money order, or MC/Visa.

Tax Deductions

Course fees and expenses are sometimes tax deductible. Please consult an accountant concerning this matter.

Loans

Some students choose to use a continuing education loan to finance the cost of the Certificate in Human Resource Management. Duke Continuing Studies does not endorse any lending program as the best source. Loans are approved at variable rates based on your credit history. Interest rates and fees vary by lender and, unlike federal loans, interest rates are not capped. One option is the TERI loan program, which offers loans from a choice of lenders. Instructions are provided for registering using a TERI loan.

The Certificate in Human Resource Management is non-credit and therefore NOT eligible for federal education loans. Please do not submit FAFSA forms for this program.

Your local bank may offer other options for loans or a "line of credit" service. Contact your bank for more information on financing choices.
