Staff
The CCE advising staff is comprised of high school counselors, college counselors and college admissions officers. The academic director, Lynn Tocci, coordinates the academic life and advises the instructional staff.
Lynn Tocci holds dual Master's degrees in Counseling and Social Work and has worked in college counseling and as a high school social worker. Now in her eleventh year with Duke undergraduate admissions, she has read and evaluated over 10,000 undergraduate applications.
Denard Jones returns for his fourth season as a counselor in the Constructing Your College Experience Program. At Elon University in Elon, NC, Denard is the Associate Director of Admissions. Denard received a BA in Business Administration from Elon. Denard is a native of Leland, FL.
Becca Stuart is currently the Director of College Counseling at Stuart Hall School in Staunton, Virginia. Previously, she was an admissions counselor at her alma mater, Hollins University, and in this role, she traveled all over the southeast to attend college fairs and to meet with students and counselors interested in Hollins. She enjoys counseling students through the entirety of the college process, from the initial search to enrollment!
Erin Breese has eight years of experience working in higher education. Her initial interest in advising high school students and their parents about college admission began when she worked as the Assistant Director of Admissions at the University of Vermont, her alma mater. Years later, while earning her Master's in Higher Education and Enrollment Management at the University of Miami, she counseled college students on their employment and graduate school aspirations at the University's Career Center. Ms. Breese currently acts as the Senior Assistant Director of Admissions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, our nation's first public university. She enjoys coordinating many of the University's recruitment programs and reading and making decisions on thousands of undergraduate applications as a member of the Admissions Committee.
Kelly Germino currently advises students at East Chapel Hill High School in Chapel Hill, NC. Prior to her appointment as School Counselor and College Advisor at East, Kelly worked in the Durham Public Schools at Jordan High School as School Counselor and Drop Our Prevention Specialist. Kelly holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Religion from Meredith College and a Master of Arts from Campbell College. She is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in School Counseling/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood.
The Youth Programs' residential staff members are mature, talented, and enthusiastic graduate and undergraduate students, who supervise campers in the residential hall and at other out of class times, such as meals, free time, and special events. The residential counselors also plan and lead a variety of social and recreational activities. A professional educator directly supervises the residential staff and their activities.
