Weekend Workshops
Product Design and Marketing Workshop
Think you have what it takes to run your own business? Got ideas for a start up? Want to design a product and then “market” your model? This workshop will give you the opportunity to experience how engineers design and build new products that directly impact people’s lives. In order to impact the most people, you will also experience how entrepreneurs use market research as a part of the product design process and to drive marketing campaigns.
Working in teams, your group will design and build a model of a prosthetic arm. Students in the Pratt School of Engineering, under the direction of Dr. Gary Ybarra and Paul Klenk will conduct these sessions. Then, you will learn marketing strategies that your group will use to present its design to a panel of “potential investors.” Malinda Todd and Arlene Childers from North Carolina Rural Education and Learning (NC REAL) will facilitate this session.
The workshop will be held in the Hudson Hall Engineering Building on West Campus. The drop off and pick up location will be on Research Drive at the corner of Coal Pile Drive. A staff member will be present at the drop off and pick up location. If you have questions or need directions please contact us at (919)-684-6259.
